Well, I'm glad you're bungee jumping and not jumping out of an airplane. Because if you did that without me, I might have to be upset. We have been driving across the country for several days and before that at a cabin on a little lake in Northwest Iowa. There was no computer service and I've been dying to read your blogs. Jennifer, I wish I could have responded to every blog since I left my parents. You have again accomplished so much in a short time. I sense that those who will remain after you go will continue your "schedule", although it may be more like a rhythm. I praise Jesus for the good test results. I have to say I did not expect them. I am happy for them. I also cannot wait to talk to you! I miss you so much!! I love you lots!!

Hi Jen, well it doesn't sound as if you have slowed down one bit, and you probably won't until you're into the 15? hour flite back to the states. After such a long and rewarding stay in SA why does it not surprise me that you're going to go bungee jumping. I don't think anyone could talk me into going for a bungee jump, but that's just the coward in me I guess. I know how happy you must be with the negative test result for that young lady. Without your support she would have never gotten the test and would have probably lived most if not all of her life in fear. She's got to love you for that. Have a great bungee jump and stay safe(why do I even bother to tell you that).

Wow! Wow! Wow! I am more than moved at the thought of a girl caring for her dying mother and probably not even giving thought that she was possibly risking her own health. If that ain't a role model of selfless behavior for all of us!?! Then, losing her Mom, and being faced with the dilemma to test and possibly find out that she would be faced with the same pain that she witnessed her Mom deal with day in and day out. Who would care for her? I can't imagine being sick as a child without my Mom.

So, when I think of the amazing complexities of that decision... I can't help but bawl too and from thousands of miles away...celebrate this huge sense of relief with all of you. Thanks for sharing with such compassion and detail!

As far as the bungie jumping goes... I can't even stomach the thought so I wish you well with my eyes closed. It's really strange, I used to be on a rock climbing team in high school and college... and then ever since I've had kids... I can't handle heights at all!

Love ya!!

Jennifer,

I am so proud of you and the boys. I can't wait to see you after you settle back in.

Just a reminder to let me know what path you are going to take in your nursing career.

Hope to see you soon.

Well Jen, you are truly an 'African' now! It will always be a part of you and its voice and heartbeat will be forever calling you back... it is an amazing place filled with extraordinary people and it is so exciting to think about how and where God will work next!

Joshua and Caleb are excited to see the boys after all your 'welcome homes' start to settle... I reminded Caleb of what he said over 10 weeks ago about his worries of being "all grown up by the time Joe and James got back home!" and he said, "hey, I didn't grow up while they were gone - I'm only 6, but I was 4 when they left!" They are also a bit concerned that the boys' hair has grown out longer than theirs...

A quick update on Gabby's 3 yorkie puppies -- they are really adorable! 5 weeks old today and each weighing a whopping 1 pound!! They are so lovable and this last week have just starting to get very playful and curious! We are leaving for our trip on Saturday, including all 4 dogs -- so while it won't be a life-altering-African-adventure, that may come later... it will be a mini-animal-escapade in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina!

When we all return to Kansas, we look forward to loving and laughing with the three of you!
hugs and blessings,
the brisco's

You've got to be kidding me? You are going to bungee jump? Are you crazy? Please tell someone to take some pictures of that :) I want to see the look on your face hehehe! Such wonderful news of the negative test results for that young lady! I truly cannot believe your spirit and strength Jen, and I know that you will one day return to South Africa. Probably more than once now that you know the country and many of its people. Congratulations on a job well done and for the fact that you accomplished all that you intended to. Please call me when you return, I want to hear all about it and look through all of the wonderful photo's!
Peace!
